The historic Ames Boston Hotel, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, has completed its $6 million renovation. The redesign from New York-based firm Glen and Co. focused on public spaces, blending modern style with Old World refinement.
Many of the 15-story property’s original features are preserved, such as the lobby’s tiled mosaic arch ceiling and marble staircase that ascends from the first floor to the roof. The renovated lobby boasts sleek check-in stations and a casual seating area accented with wooden shelves and trim pieces. Adjacent to the revamped entryway is the Library, which features a midcentury aesthetic, which serves as a comfortable, communal workspace.
The hotel’s Ames and Oliver & Oakes meeting rooms on the second floor expand the property’s new private event space to 1,700 square feet. Each room features a charming setting inspired by American manufacturing and ingenuity, while also equipped with modern technology. The new dining concept Cultivar also debuted at the Ames earlier this month with many items coming from the onsite hydroponic garden. All 114 modern guestrooms received minor upgrades as well. Accommodations are refreshed with a chic, tranquil color palette.
In honor of hockey legend Bobby Orr’s 50th anniversary of signing with the Boston Bruins, the hotel will introduce the Bobby Orr Suite later this month. The 581-square-foot space will include authentic memorabilia including refurbished seats from the original Boston Garden, a scoreboard chandelier, a penalty box, replica locker closets, puck-inspired side tables, stadium-style millwork seating, and flooring reminiscent of an ice hockey rink.
