Blossom Hotel Houston is the latest luxury property to debut in the Texas city. The 16-story hotel, located nearby the Texas Medical Center, features a range of lunar-inspired elements in a calming design by Hangzhou Rongyi Creative Company.
“To reflect the destination’s unique connection to space exploration, the design of the hotel centers around the moon,” says Xiangjun Ye, senior designer at the firm. “Translating the lunar theme into the hotel’s elegant, minimalist style, the team used distinct color palettes and luxurious textures that enhance the sense of space, creating an intimate, poised, and dynamic feeling, as well as paying tribute to the local culture.”
A luminous water feature punctuates the arrival experience, cleaving the lobby into two sections. Contrasting colors of ceiling lighting recall shooting stars on one side of the open space, while patterns and shapes found in nature reoccur throughout to infuse tranquility. Impressionist artwork animates many of the hotel’s public spaces with rugged lines and textures informed by the face of the moon.
Openness also characterizes the onsite eatery, where cleverly arranged floor patterns and distinct colors are employed to assist in choreography. Perpetuating the lunar theme, white marble tabletops shimmer beneath overhead lights, reminiscent of the surface of the moon.
The airy 267 guestrooms are outfitted with carpeting, linens, and more selected to add a residential-style sense of novelty. Accessible via a double door, separate dry and wet areas are featured in bathrooms as well.
