Toronto-based practice Chapi Chapo Design has revealed its update of the 15-year-old St. Regis San Francisco. The hotel’s 260 accommodations and 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space were all upgraded.
“Our goal was to honor St. Regis’ distinctive heritage while refreshing the property with a design that captures San Francisco’s innovative spirit, rich history and natural beauty,” says Chapi Chapo co-CEO Boris Mathias, “and to create ultra-luxe guestrooms and event spaces that anticipate the needs of today’s discerning traveler.”
The hotel’s guestrooms and suites are repopulated with custom furniture that supports both leisure and work. Rich leather panel reminiscent of sports car interiors adorn the headboards, while subtly patterned wallcoverings recall the city’s landscape of the region. The new color palette of silver, copper, and iron references the 1849 California Gold Rush and serves as a backdrop for custom 3D computer graphic works by artist Christo Saba.
The sprawling meeting and event spaces were also reimagined with new custom carpeting in a modern, abstract pattern that’s inspired by tectonic plates.
