Owner Kirk Lazarus fell in love with the tropical, lush surroundings of Port Douglas, Australia 25 years ago. So it made a perfect location for one of the properties of his new brand Molori Private Retreats. "It fits into the Molori lifestyle of elegance and comfort within the world’s most remarkable, natural destinations," he says.
The Molori Mirage is a five-bedroom retreat a short walk to the famous Four Mile Beach where the outdoors and indoors blend seamlessly. "My idea was to make all views look like a giant television screen, as though you are watching National Geographic live in your own place," he says. There are indoor-outdoor dining areas, tropical gardens, several outdoor relaxation areas outfitted with lounges, daybeds, and rain showers, an abundance of floor-to-ceiling retractable glass walls, an infinity pool, and bedrooms with terraces and gardens.
Inside, Lazarus selected furnishings that make the spaces feel lived in, like a home. Wood and a neutral color palette prevail, while each room features marble-clad spa-like bathrooms, some boasting freestanding tubs.
The property manages to catch the grandness of its surroundings while maintaining the total feeling of peace, light, and space," he says.
Next up: Molori Clifton will open in Cape Town, South Africa, this winter, Molori Beach House is set to open next spring in Santa Monica, and a 150-foot mega-yacht will set sail next summer.
