Chapel House’s white-toned drawing room features period-piece furniture, including a bookcase from 1760 that owner and interior designer Susan Stuart found at a London antique fair. 

The boutique hotel mixes elements appropriate to its 18th-century heritage with more modern pieces.

The top floor communal space is brightened by a glass dormer, under which sits a bright orange sofa accented with raspberry-colored pillows. 

In the dining area, Stuart juxtaposed midcentury Scandinavian and British furniture with existing, 230-year-old flagstone flooring. 

Bedroom Two features a freestanding soaking tub and small seating area. 

Original wood beams crisscross the vaulted ceiling in Bedroom Six. 

Many of the guestrooms call upon Penzance’s nearby coastline with furniture and headboards in watery hues.

Bedroom Three features warmer tones and a bespoke bed frame handcrafted by the project’s architecture firm, Loci Architects.
