For the adaptive reuse of the Aloft Philadelphia Downtown, Stonehill Taylor’s design was inspired by the 1925-era building’s former life as a bank.

The lobby is anchored by original flooring that features a cast-metal medallion with an image of the Liberty Bell, while a digital ticker curves around an archway and playful murals of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson help marry the old with the new.

The spacious lobby boasts original marble balustrades and arched windows.

Flanking the elevator bank, a built-in two-story bookshelf is furnished with vintage safety deposit boxes in aqua as well as old ledgers.

Lamps that evoke the Liberty Bell’s famous fracture populate the lobby, including above a pool table in the Remix lounge.

A two-story addition houses the outdoor terrace bar Back Yard with vibrant accents and a firepit.

The headboards in guestrooms are informed by abstracted sections of the Liberty Bell medallion found in the lobby, while carpets nod to graffiti brushstrokes.
