The Kimpton Group’s Palladian hotel is a new Seattle property designed by Nicole Hollis of San Francisco-based NICOLEHOLLIS Interior Design. “It is a historical building and needed to be preserved,” explains Hollis. “We kept the original terrazzo floors in the lobby; even though they were cracked and in bad shape, they had a lot of character.”

In the lobby, a white fireplace contrasts with dark décor in reference to the city’s famed overcast weather. “I was definitely inspired by the moodiness of Seattle’s skies,” says Hollis.

Penny Royal, the hotel’s bar, closely mimics the lobby’s use of color and texture and sports a marble-topped bar fashioned from reclaimed wood, and glittery touches, such as four gold-tinted liquor cabinets.

Light filled guestrooms evoke the feeling of an artist’s loft and feature beds draped in white linens that extend from reclaimed wood headboards with brass rivets and inset shelving.

Black and bronze carpet is partially covered by antique red area rugs paired with brown leather sling chairs.

Large suite bathrooms feature classic white hexagonal tiles, brass elements, and deep clawfoot bathtubs.
