Formerly the Roxburghe Hotel, the Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square is made up of seven classic Georgian townhouses originally designed by 18th-century architect Robert Adam.

Guests enter the hotel via an original arched entranceway  into a glazed vestibule where an antique bench and bentwood hat-stand awaits.

A seating area boasts velvet-upholstered lounge chairs in a bold mustard hue, while artwork suggests its the collection of a well-traveled individual.

With open views of the sky, the light-filled garden courtyard includes timber-clad columns and cantilevered mirrors to maximize natural light.

Located behind the garden, the prefunction space features midcentury-inspired table lamps and glass and metal lanterns, adding to the outdoor feel.

A private dining room is surrounded by warm furnishings and bold-patterned curtains.

Leather armchairs and vintage photographs comprise an intimate seating area in the dining room.

Behind the bar at BABA, a playful mural based on a vintage photograph depicts fictional character Mr. Baba, while a dark timber bar front and reused zinc bar top add character to the space.

A palette of deep teal and seafoam green is used in the dining spaces, including the Map Room, which is characterized by a cluster of 12 lights in blue, orange, and gray.

White ceilings, stained timber floors, and peacock blue walls and shelving define the Library, evoking a luxe clubhouse-like feel.

Donning bright colors and velvets, the Library also includes an varied mix of furniture, rugs, and bookshelves.

Painted timber tongue-and-groove paneling create the headboard wall in the new wing guestrooms.
