A former gallery in the Victoria & Albert Museum has been transformed by Carmody Groarke into the new Members’ Room.
The space functions “as part of the natural continuum of the museum fabric” spread across the top floor of the Aston Webb building.
A timber datum lines the perimeter of the room to sheath the heating and cooling units.
The monolithic terrazzo bar serves as the centerpiece of the light-filled room.
The gallery’s original light fixtures were reinterpreted as hanging fluted glass luminaires.
