Tucked within the historic streets of New Orleans’ Lower Garden District, the Blackbird Hotel is a moody, modern-day hideaway—a counterpoint to its brighter sister property, the nearby Garden District Hotel.
Old-world mystique
Designed by local studio Jeannine Jacob Interiors, the hotel is poised between Uptown elegance and old-world mystique of the French Quarter.
From the moment guests step inside the black-painted façade—a subtle nod to the property’s avian namesake—the experience becomes one of quiet contrast. The building itself once housed a centuries-old children’s home, and today, its reimagined interiors honor that legacy with an evolved sense of warmth and welcome.
Each of its 13 guestrooms offers a singular experience layered in tone, texture, and curated intention. Much like the stately residences of the surrounding neighborhood, no two rooms are alike, yet all exude a sense of intimacy and restraint.
The heart of the property lies in its central courtyard, where an outdoor pool cuts a dramatic silhouette against lush, layered greenery. The adjoining Pool Bar, meanwhile, invites guests to unwind over cocktails and café-style fare from morning through golden hour.
Curated spaces at the Blackbird Hotel
Inside, the lobby emerges with warm lighting, rich wallcoverings, and tactile finishes that set the stage for connection. Steps away, the Blackbird Café is a coffee bar, where locals and guests alike can gather for morning rituals and light bites.
The hotel also hosts an array of flexible gathering spaces, from sun-dappled outdoor courtyards to intimate indoor lounges, each suited for private events, weddings, or corporate retreats.
