Paint, color, and coatings brand Benjamin Moore has announced Metropolitan AF-690 as the 2019 Color of the Year. The stylish shade of gray with cool undertones received the denomination during an unveiling at the Seagram Building in New York earlier this week.
“Comforting, composed and effortlessly sophisticated, Metropolitan AF-690 exudes beauty and balance,” says Ellen O’Neill, Benjamin Moore’s director of strategic design intelligence. “It’s a color in the neutral spectrum that references a contemplative state of mind and design. Not arresting nor aggressive, this understated yet glamorous gray creates a soothing, impactful common ground.”
A palette of 15 corresponding hues that further amplify Metropolitan has also been revealed by the brand, including blended heather grays and soft linens, as well as metallic accents and laidback neutrals.
