New York-based firm Champalimaud has announced the appointment of Robert Vertes to a principal role. With 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality market, Vertes will support the firm’s launch of the Champalimaud Collection, its curated portfolio of custom furnishings and products. He will also lead a team of designers and oversee projects around the world, as well as the firm’s expansion into retail interiors.
“Robert’s extensive experience and reputation with the creative industry as a whole makes him an excellent addition to our team,” says firm founder and president Alexandra Champalimaud. “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Vertes as principal, especially as we embark on this new chapter into the retail space with Champalimaud Collection.”
Vertes earned a bachelor of architecture from Tulane University and a masters of architecture from Columbia University. Most recently in his position at the Related Companies, he contributed to a series of major projects in the U.S. including New York’s Shops at Hudson Yards. He held a previous position with Rockwell Group, where he worked on the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Resort, and his portfolio also includes projects such as the Al Maryah Central Food Markets in Abu Dhabi, New York’s Time Warner Center, and Jaleo restaurant in Las Vegas.
