Commune Hotels + Resorts—the hotel management company comprising Joie de Vivre Hotels, Thompson Hotels, Tommie, and Alila Hotels & Resorts—and Destination Hotels have merged. Together, the companies will manage more than 90 resorts and hotels in seven countries with approximately $2 billion of total property revenues.
The combined company will be based in Denver, Colorado, with offices in San Francisco, New York, Singapore, and Shanghai. It will operate under the leadership of Jamie Sabatier and Niki Leondakis, with hospitality veterans John Pritzker (current chairman of Commune) and Robert Lowe, Jr. (co-CEO of Lowe enterprises, Destination Hotels’ parent company) serving as co-chairmen.

Geographically, Commune and Destination operate in complementary markets with very little overlap. Commune brings a broader set of urban offerings across North America, Asia, and Europe, while Destination contributes a wide array of resort properties in premier destinations from coast to coast. Through the merger, each company will also have access to complementary customer bases.
Together, Commune and Destination will have a larger sales, marketing, and revenue management platform, allowing them to enhance property revenues, broaden the geographic reach of their brands, and attract new customers.
