Atlanta-based design firm Cooper Carry has announced the expansion of its Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry with the launch of a new restaurant, hospitality, and club design studio in New York. Following roles with Tihany Design and Rockwell Group, Ray Chung will lead the new studio at the firm’s Manhattan offices, which aims to better position the Johnson Studio for new design opportunities in the Northeast. The Johnson Studio and Cooper Carry merged earlier this year.
“Cooper Carry and the Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry are both recognized globally for their unique connective architecture approach, and I’m thrilled to join the highly regarded team of designers,” says Chung. “The firm has an especially great reputation for transforming complex projects into memorable places that connect ideas, people and spaces—a particularly appealing approach in a crowded real estate market like New York.”
“Our New York office has seen great demand for hospitality projects, and our decision to open the new studio, helmed by Ray, will better prepare our team to design iconic projects across the Northeast,” adds Bill Johnson, associate principal of the Johnson Studio “We are confident that Ray’s extensive hospitality background and familiarity with New York City will allow him to strategically grow the hospitality-focused practice.”
The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry is currently at work on 20 projects across the U.S. and the Caribbean.
