Washington, DC-based architecture and design firm CORE has announced the promotions of its former director of operations David Cheney, and former director of hospitality design Allison C. Cooke to partner. The two join CORE principals Guy I. Martin and Dale Stewart on CORE’s leadership team.
Leading a portfolio of boutique base-building projects, Cheney oversees much of the firm’s cultural, mixed-use, public, and historic projects, and has participated in city projects such as the Atlas Performing Arts Center, the Mount Pleasant Library, and 611 N Street women’s supportive housing facility. Cheney earned a bachelor of architecture from Norwich University and is NCARB certified.
In her new role, Cooke will continue to oversee CORE’s restaurant and retail projects, while contributing to other projects including libraries, residential, office buildings, and hotels. Holding a bachelor of fine arts in interior design from Miami University in Ohio, Cooke’s portfolio includes local restaurants such as Founding Farmers, Centrolina, and barmini and minibar by José Andrés, among others. She is also NCIDQ certified and a LEED Accredited Professional.
“I’m very excited to expand our boutique hospitality and retail practice in DC and the greater mid-Atlantic region,” Cooke says. “Our focus will remain, as it always has been, on our clients. By listening and forming true design partnerships, we help them realize their ambitions in built space, at all scales.”
“We especially look forward to working with emerging and established developers who are true place-makers,” adds Cheney. “With our expertise in high-design, multi-disciplinary projects, we bring a unique perspective on creating experiential environments that support our clients’ business goals.”
