Honolulu-based Group 70 International (G70) has announced the addition of Craig Takahata as a principal. Takahata will help steer G70’s international practice with projects in Tahiti, Indonesia, and Japan, among other locations.
Previously a vice president and managing director at WATG’s Honolulu office, where he worked for 17 years, Takahata has returned to G70, where he worked on a variety of resort projects from 1994 to 1999.
Over the course of his career, Takhata has designed a number of hotels and resorts, office, commercial, residential, retail, and master planning projects, most notably the Hongqiao central business district mixed-use project in Shanghai; the Raffles Clearwater Bay Resort in Yingzhou Zhen, China; and the Kapalua Central Resort on Maui.
“After a very fulfilling nearly two decades at WATG, I’m ready for the next big challenge,” says Takahata. “I’ve always had tremendous respect for Group 70 and I’m thrilled to be a part of this very exciting new chapter as the firm expands its global influence. Born and raised in Hawaii, Takahata earned a bachelor of architecture from the University of Hawaii and studied management and leadership at Harvard Business School.
