Award-winning designer D.B. Kim has joined Gensler team as the newest member of the APAC Hospitality Practice. With more than 25 years in the design industry, Kim will serve as design director at the firm’s Shanghai office, where he will support international projects as a consultant.
Kim was vice president of the Wanda Hotel Design & Research Institute, a subsidiary of Chinese real estate giant the Dalian Wanda Group. While there, he was instrumental in leading the design direction for three new hotel brands, including Reign, Realm, and Vista. Prior experiences include his tenure as vice president of design at Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he managed Sheraton, Westin, and W brands. Following his time at Starwood, Kim worked as a design associate with Daroff Design and Pierre-Yves Rochon.
