Toronto-headquartered interdisciplinary studio DesignAgency has promoted both Jamie Phelan and Alexandra Cole to the role of principal. Phelan and Cole will work alongside cofounding partners Allen Chan, Matt Davis, and Anwar Mekhayech. Chan says, “It gives us great pleasure to honor Jamie and Alexandra and to acknowledge their passion for working with clients to develop incredible brands and guest experiences.”
Phelan, who joined DesignAgency in 2011, most recently served as creative director. She has lent her expertise to major hospitality clients, including Generator, Hyde/SBE, NeueHouse, and the Drake Hotel.
Joining the practice in 2016, Cole was instrumental in the opening of DesignAgency’s Los Angeles and Washington, DC studios. She also fostered bonds with American clients—from Montage International and Carver Road Hospitality to Hilton and Marriott—as U.S. managing director.
“We’re incredibly proud to formally acknowledge the talent within our studio and to promote them to the next level,” Mekhayech, adds. “Jamie and Alexandra have enhanced our capabilities, improved the quality of our work, and strengthened our culture and client services. Their ideas, creativity, and leadership are invaluable as we look towards the future. This transition is evidence of our studio’s plan for growth, of which succession is a key priority.”
