Destination Hotels & Resorts has promoted Tom Luersen to executive vice president of operations.
In his new role, Luersen will lead the operations function for the company, working closely with all functional leaders across operations, sales and marketing, business development, performance optimization, human resources, IT, finance, and design.
Luersen’s tenure with Destination Hotels began in 1998 as a managing director for Sunriver Resort in Bend, Oregon and continued to his leading role in expanding the company presence in the Pacific Northwest. Luersen was instrumental in the operational oversight across key urban, resort, and conference center properties in the Western region, including Suncadia Resort, developed by Lowe Destination Development in 2005, and the renovation and complete repositioning of a chain hotel in downtown Seattle to a new independent brand, Motif Seattle in June 2014. Luersen will continue and expand oversight of key investor and capital partnerships with Destination hotel owners.
Luersen is an active member of the AH&LA Resort Committee, founder and board member of the nonprofit organization Wonderland Express, and past two-term member and chairman of the Oregon Tourism Commission and Travel Oregon.
