Furniture and accessories manufacturer Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman (EF+LM) has launched an official hospitality division, Lewis Mittman Hospitality (LMH). Since its inception, the company’s hospitality segment has experienced annual sales increases of 200–300 percent.
In 2007, Lewis Mittman began manufacturing furniture in Asia geared toward high-end public spaces. This strategic location has allowed LMH to branch into guestroom furnishings as well. LMH is currently working on more than 2,500 guestrooms throughout Asia, Australia, and the U.S.
“We have proven to ourselves and the market that, with the right in-country personnel and the right oversight, 5-Star Western expectations can be met by Asian–made products,” says EF+LM CEO and founder Steve Mittman, who will remain chairman of both LMH and EF+LM. “This has been achieved with a quality control and engineering staff of 15 people in China and Indonesia, as well as my personal involvement on the ground, residing in South China for more than half the year.”
Jonathan Houghton has been appointed COO of LMH—a position to which he brings years of experience as a project director at hospitality properties in Hong Kong and Macau. Based in Shanghai, Houghton will oversee all facets of the company.
EF+LM also announces the promotion of Jamie Hoover to senior project manager. Based in the company’s facility in High Point, North Carolina, Hoover will continue to act as U.S. liaison, coordinating projects with Mittman and the Shanghai office.
