The Malcom Berg-led interdisciplinary design firm EoA was named the winner of the $10,000 grand prize at the 11th annual Radical Innovation Awards. Hosted at the New Museum in New York, the event saw more than 150 guests with five hospitality concepts presented onstage from three professional finalists.
Coral Gables, Florida-based EoA took home the top prize for its Living the Till concept, a treetop hotel resort conceived for preserved forests in regions of Australia, Borneo, California, Ecuador, Japan, Malaysia, and even the Amazon. The nomadic design is easily assembled and disassembled, and crafted to immerse guests in the purity of nature. Inspired by the Tillandsia air plant that lives in harmony on a tree host, the concept also includes a camping component on a hovering, transparent carpet.
Hyperloop Hotel
Brandan Siebrecht of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) was named this year’s student winner, receiving a $1,500 prize of his Hyperloop Hotel design. The sustainable, modular hotel concept is crafted in the form of shipping containers that double as traveling guest suites with Hyperloop technology. Containers feature fully customizable layouts and designs, with each guestroom broken into four separate spaces for sleep, bathing, living, and flexibility, respectively. Guests would be able to dock at one of 13 hotel destinations across the U.S., including Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.
