Kevin Underwood has been named a new principal and head of masterplanning and design for HKS. Over the course of three decades, Underwood’s 30-year career in master planning and design has included hotel and resort projects and urban regeneration schemes around the world.
Underwood previously served as the principal in charge of hospitality for Edaw. After the company was acquired by Aecom, he then led the teams behind notable design initiatives in Qatar, such as the Msheireb project and Education City in Doha, which boasts the world’s first qu’ranic garden. He also oversaw projects for Disneyland Paris, as well as developments for brands such as Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and Hyatt.
“We are delighted that Kevin has joined us because not only will his exceptional depth of master planning experience complement the breadth of our architects’ work, we are also completely of one mind in our commitment to nurturing client relationships and exceeding expectations through collaborative working,” says Luis Zapiain, director of HKS Hospitality.
Underwood will be based in the firm’s London office.
