The nominees for the 2019 James Beard Awards have been announced across nearly 60 categories, highlighting culinary excellence in the U.S. Winners will be announced during this year’s various awards programs, which includes the James Beard Media Awards on April 26th in New York; the Leadership Awards on May 5th in Chicago; and the James Beard Awards Gala on May 6th at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Included among this year’s nominees are the Restaurant Design awards, which were selected by a jury that included Anda Andrei, Wendy Goodman, Jon Gray, Casey Jones, Kelsey Keith, and Stacy Shoemaker Rauen, editor in chief and associate publisher of Hospitality Design magazine. A new category, Other Eating a& Drinking Places, was also added this year. The 2019 James Beard Foundation Outstanding Restaurant Design nominees are:

The theme for this year’s awards is “Good Food For Good,” a reflection of the ethos of the James Beard Foundation. This year’s theme aims to raise awareness not only of deserving winners, but also of the overall mission of the foundation to provide scholarships, mentorships, programming, and dining experiences across the country.
