Australian businessman James Packer has acquired a $100 million interest in Nobu restaurant and hotel company, which is co-owned by Robert De Niro, Hollywood producer Meir Teper, and chef proprietor Nobu Matsuhisa.
Chaired by Packer, Crown Resorts Limited has acquired 20 percent ownership of Nobu, where Packer will serve as one of four board directors. De Niro, Teper, and Matsuhisa will retain the remaining 80 percent ownership stake.
Following the transaction, Packer announced that the proposed Crown Sydney Hotel Resort may integrate a Nobu restaurant, while Crown Promenade hotels in Melbourne and Perth, which already contain Nobu restaurants, may also be converted into full Nobu-branded hotels. The company also already owns Nobu Hotel at City of Dreams Manila.
