Jane Skeeter, CEO of Chatsworth, California-based glass manufacturer UltraGlas, has been named the winner of the 2016 NEWH ICON of Industry award. The award recognizes leaders in the manufacturing branch of hospitality whose work has impacted the field through innovative approach or contributed to community and industry outreach.
“I believe Jane is the perfect ICON; she pioneered the introduction of molded/slumped/cast glass to the U.S. in the mid-80s and continuously offers new innovative processes serving the needs of the discerning hospitality designers & architects,” says interior designer and NEWH vice president of finance Fernando Diaz. “Jane is constantly giving back to the community, whether through the protection of the environment or her dedication to the Boys and Girls Club of the West valley in the Los Angeles Area.”
Skeeter has held her leadership role with UltraGlas for almost 30 years. Prior to establishing the company, she was a principal of Skeeter Studios, specializing in architectural glass and glazing, and also worked in the fields of clothing design and automobile restoration. She is also a former president of the National Association of Women Business Owners-Los Angeles (NAWBO-LA)
Over the course of her career, Skeeter has been honored with numerous awards, most recently receiving the Pioneer Woman Award from the Los Angeles City Commission on the Status of Women and the National Trailblazer Award from NAWBO/Wells Fargo. Other accolades include the San Fernando Valley Business Journal’s Women in Business CEO of the Year award and the distinction as one of ten people featured in its Business Woman of the Decade list.
