Wimberly Interiors has announced that Josh Held will join the studio in New York as vice president and director of entertainment. In this role, he will support managing director Margaret McMahon and will spearhead the firm’s entertainment, gaming, nightlife, and retail design projects, rounding out the firm’s robust offerings in the U.S., UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Held brings over 20 years of experience in hospitality design, starting his career with Rockwell Group where he spent 11 years. Prior to joining Wimberly Interiors, he founded his own practice, Josh Held Design, where he worked on the nightlife, gaming, retail, F&B, and limited lifestyle hospitality projects. He received a bachelor’s in architecture from University of Texas at Austin in 1995.
Having completed such projects as TAO Las Vegas, Marquee nightclub, and Dream Downtown in New York, and the Chroma Nightclub in Seoul, among others, Held brings his theatrical and playful design aesthetic with him as he joins Wimberly Interiors.
“We are so excited to bring on a designer with such an innovative and distinct aesthetic. Josh and I have had a longstanding friendship and respect for each other’s work. We’ve always shared the belief that every space has a story to tell and design is an integral part of telling that story. This mindset is an important component of my approach to hospitality and his vision will infuse a new and complementary aesthetic into our team,” says McMahon.
