International design firm Leo A Daly has appointed Mary Shaffer to serve as director of architecture at the company’s Minneapolis office, where she will be responsible for scheduling, staffing, mentorship, and architectural services quality review as well as overseeing resource implementation.
“Mary is a noted leader in the Minnesota architectural community with 27 years of wide-ranging experience and a gift for mentorship,” says Matthew Johnson, managing principal of Leo A Daly Minneapolis. “She has worked for large A&E firms, big businesses like Target, and institutions like the University of Minnesota, giving her insight on both the owner and professional side. She’s also incredibly engaged as a public servant, sitting on a number of boards and committees, such as the AIA and the Downtown Council. She’ll be a great fit with our design culture, and an asset to our clients.”
Shaffer joins Leo A Daly with experience in the corporate commercial space, having held various architectural and design positions with firms such as Horty Elving & Associates, Architectural Alliance, and HGA. She most recently served as a project manager at the University of Minnesota, where she headed all aspects of design and planning while leading capital projects. From 2005 to 2014, Shaffer was a principal design project manager for Target Corporation, where she was in charge of retail and corporate projects throughout India and the U.S.
