Makeready, a Dallas-headquartered hospitality and retail operator and management company, has revealed four new additions to its executive leadership
“We’re delighted to have top talent from some of the country’s biggest tourism markets relocating to Makeready destinations in Charleston, Dallas, and more,” says Makeready COO Christine Magrann. “It’s been a very prominent theme in recruiting—in a post-pandemic environment, leaders in hospitality are opting to move their careers and families to destinations and companies that are paying close attention to the daily pace of life and the effect that has on team members.”
Bringing forth more than 35 years of hospitality expertise, Ted Arps joins Makeready as chief investment management and development officer. With a focus on value enhancement, innovations, improvements, ROI projects, and accelerated deal growth and acquisitions, Arps will promote Makeready’s commitment to thoughtful, immersive culinary experiences and programming.
Gary Thomas joins Makeready as the new senior vice president of hotel operations. Based in Charleston, Thomas will oversee six luxury lifestyle properties in his new position, drawing upon his previous roles in general management and senior operations at Morgans Hotel Group and sbe Hotels.
Joining Makeready’s Dallas office, Marcia Murphy will assume the title of corporate director of commercial strategy. Murphy previously spent the last 20 years in the Los Angeles hospitality scene, and will collaborate with revenue management, digital strategy, marketing, and sales teams to design and implement optimization strategy for the most profitable revenue streams.
Finally, chef Charles Olalia has been appointed the corporate director of culinary for Makeready. The new role will task Olalia with creating thoughtful and approachable F&B experiences across the Makeready brand, while also mentoring and building bench strength for future leaders.
