Partner companies Bostik and Artaic Innovative Mosaic have announced that artist Nicole Kohri was named the winner of the Bostik-Artaic mural competition. Her winning design, displayed at the MGM Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, was revealed during HD Expo’s Party by the Pool celebration in May. The 20-by-8-foot backlit mural is now a permanent installation at the property’s 54,500-square-foot Wet Republic pool venue. Kohri also won a roundtrip vacation for two to Paris.
Contestants were required to submit glass mosaic tile designs, assembled using Artaic’s Tessera robotics and Bostik’s translucent Dimension Rapidcure glass-filled grout. Hundreds of designs embodying a theme of “Essence of Las Vegas,” were considered for the top prize.
“Hearing all those compliments just melts my heart and motivates me to pursue my true passion, which is mosaic design,” says Kohri. “It was so magical watching everyone look up at the mural and touch the tiles with a big smile.”
Bostik’s Scott Banda adds, “Together with Artaic, our main goal with the Design ‘N Gather competition is to bring back the ancient, time-tested art of mosaic mural design and celebrate the many talented design professionals that greatly contribute to the aesthetic world around us.”
Kohri also joined the Bostik team this week in Philadelphia to discuss her design at the AIA annual convention.
