Ashley Stempler has been named director of interior design for Portland, Oregon-based Provenance Hotels. In the newly created role, Stempler will direct design for the eight hotels currently in the company’s portfolio and oversee the execution for all new projects, including the Hotel Theodore in downtown Seattle, a new-build in Hermosa Beach, California, and the adaptive reuse of Portland’s historic Woodlark and Cornelius buildings. She will also direct each new property’s integrated art collection and work alongside Provenance’s development team to acquire new properties and management contracts.
Stempler most recently served as design director for Commune Hotels + Resorts in New York, overseeing projects for brands like Joe de Vivre, tommie and Thompson. Prior to her time with Commune, Stempler worked in the Gettys Group Hong Kong office on luxury hotel projects like the Peninsula in Hong Kong, the Ritz-Carlton in Doha, and Morocco’s Tazi Palace. She has also held design positions at several other firms, including HBA, where she contributed to projects such as the Shangri-La in Chongqung, China and the Royal Plaza Hong Kong. Stempler earned her master’s degree in interior architecture from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
