Chicago-based firm the Gettys Group has appointed Marcela Lombana as senior project designer in its Miami studio, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
“We are thrilled to have Marcela join our team, especially during this eventful year,” says studio director Lorraine Knapp Masch. “Her extensive experience, attention to detail, and admirable passion for hospitality design are sure to make an immediate impact on our office and our work.”
Lombana has worked as a lifestyle interior designer for more than 13 years, during which she has completed hospitality and residential projects throughout South Florida, Los Angeles, Texas, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
“I believe interior design is an art that awakens and inspires human senses,” says Lombana. “The way a space is perceived will have an impact and affect the way people feel.”
Lombana got her start working with Miami-based Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design in 2003 before taking a position with RTKL Associates in 2006. Three years later, Lombana, a Colombian native, relocated to Bogotá to establish a consulting studio, for which she served as design director.
