Tom Philippi has been hired as design principal at the Dallas office of SmithGroupJJR. He joins the office from Gensler Dallas, where he served as design director for its Lifestyle Studio.
With more than 30 years of experience, Philippi will focus on leading design and forging new, strategic business relationships for the office’s Workplace Studio. Additionally, he will collaborate with its Higher Education and Health Studios and work to identify new business opportunities for SmithGroupJJR in both the corporate and public sectors.
Prior to Gensler, he worked as vice president and director of design for Leo A. Daly offices in Dallas and Omaha. He also served as a principal designer at RTKL Dallas, and contributed to projects such as the Grand Hyatt Shenzhou Resort in Hainan and the Capitol District development in Omaha.
“Tom Philippi is a collaborative designer who believes in an all-inclusive approach during the informative stages of design,” says Jay Rambo, SmithGroupJJR’s Dallas office director. “His deep roots in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and understanding of the market shift toward ‘Live-Work-Play’ environments give him an in-depth understanding of how communities work and grow.”
