Alex Andjel has been hired by Virgin Hotels as the lifestyle brand’s new vice president of development, overseeing its growth into Europe.
“I’m extremely proud to lead our European expansion as we look to grow the portfolio in the key gateway cities that you might expect, and some you wouldn’t,” Andjel says.
With the goal of bringing in two to three new properties annually, Andjel will scout development opportunities in cities across Europe such as London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Rome, and Istanbul. He will work alongside both capital partners and strategic investors to acquire new and existing properties.
“Alex will be a key resource as we expand Virgin Hotels into Europe. His vast experience and knowledge of the markets in Europe and the Middle East will prove to be incredibly valuable,” notes Allie Hope, the brand’s head of development and acquisitions.
Andjel previously held the same role with YOTEL, where he oversaw growth in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He also served as the director of hospitality investment and corporate advisory firm Montpelier Hotels Ltd., and director of development for Bridgehouse Capital, a private equity company. More recently, Andjel worked for Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. (now Belmond) where he managed more than $500 million of non-core assets.
