Wimberly Interiors, the interior design studio of WATG, has appointed Christine McGinnis as the studio director of its Singapore office. From there, she will lead the firm’s expansion throughout Asia Pacific.
McGinnis brings 20 years of interior design experience to the role. She joins Wimberly Interiors from New York-based AvroKO, where she was the managing director of the Bangkok office.Â
Prior to AvroKo, McGinnis held several senior design roles with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where she shaped the creative direction for the Aloft and Element brands, and served as director of design for St. Regis and the Luxury Collection. She began her career at Starwood working on the Westin brand, for which she managed all Westin projects in Asia Pacific, as well as $100 million in portfolio renovations with Starwood Capital Group, and $80 million portfolio renovations with Columbia Sussex Corporation.
McGinnis joins a team of 10 at the Singapore Wimberly Studio, where recent projects include the first Bellagio Hotel in China (scheduled to open in Shanghai in 2017), the Edition in Abu Dhabi, and three Bentley suites at St. Regis hotels in New York, Istanbul, and Dubai.
The firm recently celebrated the soft opening of the Anantara Peace Haven Resort and Spa in Tangalle, Sri Lanka. The grand opening of the property will follow the completion of the beach restaurant in the second quarter this year.Â
