Davidson Hospitality Group has announced the launch of a new operating division, Davidson Resorts. The company’s sophisticated new branch will focus on the management of distinctive resort destinations. Specialist Steve Contos, who previously served as a senior vice president for Marriott International, will helm the portfolio of large-scale, highly activated properties.
Davidson Resorts will kickoff with 11 existing properties, previously under the company’s other verticals, including the historic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan, Florida’s Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, and the Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego. Additional outposts in California, Florida, and Colorado round out the current portfolio, while expansion in markets in Mexico and the Caribbean is under review.
The new division is slated to generate nearly $1 billion in revenue over the next five years.
“At resorts, you create something just a little bit unique, because you have the ability,” Davison president Thom Geshay tells HD. “People are typically there a little bit longer because they’re there for purpose, and that purpose often is, how do I feel better about [myself]? So, it allows us to create a culinary journey, a fitness journey, a wellness journey, and you have to be creative with that.”
