Marriott International is expanding its lifestyle brand, AC Hotels by Marriott, with 22 new design-led properties, all scheduled to open this year.
Established in 1998, AC Hotels was founded in Spain by hotelier Antonio Catalan, who formed a joint venture with Marriott International in 2011 following the brand’s success in Europe.
“AC Hotels by Marriott is a new breed of lifestyle hotels created to inspire the next-generation traveler through innovative design,” says Tina Edmundson, Marriott’s global officer of luxury and lifestyle brands. “Our rapidly growing portfolio of design-led hotels illustrates Marriott International’s commitment to making distinctive architecture and design affordable and accessible for creatives and entrepreneurs around the world—appealing to a large and growing demographic with a robust development pipeline to match.”
Five hotels are slated to open this month: AC Guadalajara and AC Queretaro in Mexico; AC Cincinnati North/West Chester in Ohio; AC Boston North; and AC Marseille in France.
Additional openings this year include AC Panama City in Panama; AC San Jose Downtown in California; AC Atlanta North; AC Asheville in North Carolina; AC Rio Barra de Tijuca and AC Rio Porto Maravilha in Brazil; AC Herzliya in Israel; AC Birmingham and AC Manchester in the UK; AC Boston Cambridge; AC Phoenix Tempe; AC Santiago in Chile; AC Des Moines Downtown in Iowa; AC Santa Fe in Mexico; AC Minneapolis; AC Mainz in Germany; and AC Wroclaw in Poland.
The properties will all showcase a European-inspired aesthetic with modern and timeless interiors, while guestrooms will integrate monochromatic schemes with clean lines and hardwood floors.
Each locally inspired property will boast signature brand amenities, such as the AC Lobby, an open space with an art gallery-style atmosphere and contemporary furnishings, as well as lounge areas and the AC Library, which will feature ambient light fixtures, comfortable seating, and a curated selection of books for guests.
Variously sized meeting spaces will also be available in addition to a fitness center and onsite parking.
