Best Western International has opened its first hotel in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.
Expected to open in mid-2015, the brand new 41-room upscale hotel will be set in the capital, Thimphu, and will include a fitness center, spa, bar, and a terrace lounge, and one traditional Bhutanese restaurant with outdoor seating. The hotel will also feature a conference room with meeting facilities.
Best Western’s entry into Bhutan marks another milestone in the company’s Asian expansion strategy. Late last year, Best Western entered Myanmar for the first time and earlier this year made its debut in Sri Lanka.
Currently, the company has a portfolio of more than 200 hotels across Asia, and expects to increase its regional collection to 300 properties over the next few years. Best Western first launched in Asia and the Middle East in 2001 and now covers 24 countries across Asia and the Middle East.
