Meliá Hotels International has announced plans to open ME Doha and Meliá Downtown Residences Dubai—two new properties on the Arabian Gulf.
The 5-star, 235-room ME Doha will open in 2017 within mixed-use complex Dohalive and serve as the company’s second hotel in Doha, Qatar. Amenities will include business and convention facilities, an executive area, fitness center, spa, and an infinity pool, three restaurants, a nightclub, an open-air cinema, and three bars.
Dohalive, a project by Albaker Investments, was designed by locally based Albaker Architects and will blend the hotel with retail and entertainment opportunities. ”This development will set a new standard for lifestyle destinations in Doha,” says Ahmed Al Baker, chairman of Albaker Investments, “We intend on creating a hotel that will produce unique and extraordinary experiences, which is why Albaker Investments is proud and confident about the future success of ME Doha.”
Slated to open in 2018, the 258-unit Meliá Downtown Residences Dubai will include meeting rooms, a business center, two restaurants, a spa, and fitness center. It will be the company’s first residential project, developed by Iconic Developments, a real estate division of the RTC group.
Additional forthcoming projects announced for the region include the 125-room Innside JLT Dubai, slated to open in 2016 as the company’s third Dubai hotel. Amenities will include golf courses, two restaurants, a gym, spa, health club, pool, and rooftop lounge.
“We are looking forward to working closely with all of our regional partners,” says Gabriel Escarrer, vice chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International. “The introduction of our two new hotel brands, Innside and ME by Meliá, to the region represents an important milestone within our corporate development.”
