Montage Hotels & Resorts has announced Pendry Hotels, a new brand that will pair the Montage’s culture of service with a fashion-forward and design-driven approach to hospitality.
With the brand, the company intends to significantly expand its portfolio of hotels and resorts, which today includes five distinctive Montage-branded properties in Laguna Beach and Beverly Hills; Deer Valley, Utah; Kapalua Bay, Maui; and Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina.
“When we discovered that the British surname Pendry embraces ‘know thyself’ as its family motto, we knew we had found a brand identification that speaks to the aspirational ethos of our customer—self-aware, confident, intellectually curious, and engaged,” says Montage’s founder and CEO Alan Fuerstman.
As co-founder and creative director of Pendry Hotels, Michael Fuerstman will spearhead the brand’s rollout—including the creation of the first Pendry property, Pendry San Diego—in addition to working on future Pendry Hotel developments, a role he comes to after six years working with Montage Hotels & Resorts on the company’s real estate and acquisitions teams.
Pendry San Diego, which broke ground on October 8th, is located at the center of the city’s historic Gaslamp District. Scheduled to open in 2016, the hotel will feature 317 guestrooms, including 36 suites, a rooftop pool, two restaurants, an ultra-lounge, a beer hall, a spa and fitness facility, and more than 22,000 square feet of meeting space.
