Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, which currently operates 83 hotels worldwide, signed 12 news hotels with 4,088 rooms and expanded its portfolio by 15 percent in 2015. The expansion spread across Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
“It marked the start of an unprecedented period of growth, with our portfolio set to increase by almost 50 percent until 2020, and we look to build on this momentum with exciting projects in key markets, working toward our ultimate goal of 130 properties (open and signed) by 2020,” says Jean Gabriel Pérès, CEO of the Swiss hospitality firm.
Projects in the works include the Mövenpick Resort Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s first ever integrated destination resort scheduled to open in 2017; the Mövenpick Hotel Centaurus Islamabad, a 361-key property scheduled to open in 2018; and the Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech in Morocco, which will open later this year.
The firm also has opened four new hotels in 2015 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Bangkok; Pattaya, Thailand; and Istanbul. It currently has 26 additional properties under negotiation.
