Following this summer’s successful opening of the Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park, New Jersey (designed by Bonetti/Kozerski Studio and Stonehill & Taylor), real estate investment firm iStar will launch luxury residential property Monroe. Anda Andrei, creative director and design lead of the community’s redevelopment, has tapped Chad Oppenheim of Miami-based firm Oppenheim Architecture to craft the 34-unit beachfront condominium.
Oppenheim draws influence from the area’s common architectural materials to honor regional character. “We wanted a timeless design,” he says. “I consider Asbury Park to be one of the most unique architectural settings in the United States. We were inspired by that, and sampled materials from the neighborhood like the boardwalk and some of the stone of the old architecture to create this modern, residential building.”
The residences will feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts with an inviting color palette defining the indoor-outdoor design. Private, furnished outdoor terraces will feature grills and fireplaces.
“What we are really designing is not only the architecture, but the lifestyle of the people who will live here,” adds Oppenheim, who grew up in the area. “The building is only blocks from the beach, so we wanted to bring that essence indoors.”
Monroe residents will have access to Asbury Hotel services and amenities such as the property’s swimming pool, rooftop bar, movie screenings, and more. The project is slated for completion this year.
