Red Lion Hotels Corporation (RLHC) has announced its re-entry into the Eugene, Oregon market following the conversion of a hotel space, previously occupied by Sleep Inn & Suites, to the Red Lion Inn & Suites Eugene.
The 50-unit, four-story building sold for $3.1 million to developer Lal Sidhu of US Hotel, LLC, who signed a franchise license agreement with RLHC.
“We think the brand will play well for our location,” says Sidhu, who plans to revamp all of the guestrooms and fitness center to meet RLHC standards.
The first Red Lion Inn & Suites located in Eugene closed in 2014 when it relinquished its lease to Denver-based Natural Grocers.
“Eugene has been an important market for Red Lion, and we are looking forward to working with these owners to provide a great stay for our guests,” says Brian Quinn, RLHC’s chief franchise officer.

The hotel is within walking distance of the University of Oregon and near the Eugene Ale Trail and the South Willamette Valley Wine Tour.
RLHC currently has 56 hotels, 38 of which are franchised, and plans to expand its portfolio to include more than 100 hotels within 100 weeks.
