Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is preparing to open the 28-story Shangri-La Hotel, Ulaanbaatar, on June 3rd in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Located within walking distance of the Government House and Great Chinggis Khaan Square, the property will be connected to the Shangri-La Center, the city’s only mixed-use development, which will contain apartments, four floors of retail space, and 19 floors of upscale commercial space when it opens next year.
The 290-room hotel is inspired by Mongolia’s nomadic culture. Upon arrival, guests will experience local culture, such as traditionally dressed doormen, while the porte-cochère itself will be decorated with double-tier crystal lights that form a geometric pattern using copper and brass fittings.
The lobby will also include crystal chandeliers, each measuring approximately 10 feet in width, while textured stone walls are accented by decorative glass lights in the shape of hunting horns.
Rooms will be appointed with natural finishes against a neutral palette, with some rooms featuring a window seating area.
F&B outlets will include the lobby lounge, decorated with local copper and brass artwork; the Naadam bar and grill, which will connect to a 50-person terrace; and Café Park, with its copper motif inlay on pillars and open cooking stations. Hutong, a Chinese eatery, will open in August with muted lighting, dark wood elements, and a color palette of burgundy and charcoal gray.
Other amenities include 28,449 square feet of meeting and event space, a 77,500-square-foot sports club, indoor swimming pool, gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, and a separate two-level Kids Zone.
