The new Axiom Hotel, one of Host Hotels & Resorts first independent properties, will be managed by Kokua Hospitality and open this fall in San Francisco’s Union Square.
The 152-room boutique, originally the Powell Hotel, is designed by New York-based Stonehill & Taylor and features contemporary digital enhancements within a design scheme inspired by the city’s cable car system and the Bay area.
In reference to the tech-centric design, the mezzanine level with vintage arcade games will be known as the Cloud. Public spaces will feature glitch art, which depicts modern day technological glitches over historic-style photography, and light wells showcasing creative installations by various artists.
Guestrooms will juxtapose exposed pipe ceilings with modern artwork mounted on traditionally molded walls, along with cable-fixed lighting.
Amenities will include a signature, customizable meeting space that can be divided into two areas called Hub 1 and Hub 2.
