Joining the East Austin dining scene next month, Rosewood invites guests to dine within a transformed, hilltop Victorian abode from 1890. Crafted to exude warmth, the restaurant embraces its historic elements with a thoughtful design from local architecture practice Mark Odom Studio.
“Restoring one of East Austin’s historical 1890s homes into a unique space for Rosewood is the perfect opportunity to balance old and new,” says Mark Odom. “The space respects the integrity of history but, most importantly, creates a comfortable experience for patrons to enjoy Rosewood’s craft.”
Beyond Rosewood’s convivial eight-seat bar, a 12-table dining room radiates intimacy along with a 12-seat private dining space and the seven-seat chef’s counter. The spacious deck overlooks the landscape design from locally based Mark Word Design, which entails a great lawn with an assortment of seating enclaves layered with plant life.
“We collaborated with chef Jesse and the Rosewood team to create a plant palette that seamlessly blends South Texas style with the delicate Victorian architecture. With a familial, residential-style garden arranged around an expansive lawn, the landscape at Rosewood is a backyard for the whole neighborhood to enjoy,” Mark Word adds.
