Berlin- and Bali-based architect and designer Alexis Dornier has redesigned Balinese eatery Alchemy, located in the town of Ubud. The 9,688-square-foot vegan restaurant boasts a sustainable design using as little material as possible.
Housed within a concrete building, the space was opened and extended across a new two-level structure on each end. The roof and new decks are supported by pylons made from recycled telephone poles, while air circulation is enhanced thanks to tiered grass roofing. Bamboo and other greenery have also been added to the sun-filled interiors. The renovation also includes more than 6,400 square feet of kitchen space.
