A café by day and a cocktail bar by night, Bar Beau in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is the latest New York concept launched by owner Claire Chan. Brooklyn-based architecture and design studio Isaac-Rae spearheaded the design of the space, which channels the Pacific Northwest as a nod to Chan’s childhood.
Beyond the clandestine entrance, guests pass through the café to arrive in the rear cocktail bar. The smooth plaster curves of the walls and ceilings are offset by the sharp concrete and marble edges as a reference to the natural palette and curvature of the Pacific coastline. The soothing, den-like aesthetic is amplified with colors as well as masculine and feminine material elements reminiscent of the surf and fluidity of the region.
