Golden Age Hospitality—the team behind New York culinary staples Le Crocodile and Chez Ma Tante—has announced the launch of a new French-inspired concept in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located on the sixth floor of the Wythe Hotel, Bar Blondeau is set against the backdrop of the East River and Manhattan skyline and crafted with a warm allure by locally based design and architecture firm Bonetti/Kozerski.
“We wanted to reflect the refined elegance of a hotel bar, but add in more casual aspects and a comfortable seating structure,” says Golden Age Hospitality founder Jon Neidich. “Bar Blondeau also carries through some of the elements that were in Le Crocodile, especially those inspired by European cafés and brasseries. We wanted continuity between the spaces and have that ‘golden glow’ feel in both projects.”
The open 70-seat interior is lined with soft natural oak walls and jewel-toned banquettes paired with green marble tables. Custom lighting infuses golden accents into the ambiance, complementing an air of effortless cool. Adorned with a seafoam hue, the tiled bar is topped with marble and positioned to maximize floor-to-ceiling windows that frame vistas of the city and sprawl. “We also wanted to showcase the spectacular view, and that’s why we featured the bar where it is,” says Neidich. “It’s purposefully given a low profile, so the cityline can be the best wallpaper view. When designing the space, we wanted it to be comfortable, but with a fun level of sophistication to it.”
