Design and architecture studio 22RE has unveiled Bar di Bello, a 2,000-square-foot neighborhood restaurant offering northern Italian-inspired dining in the heart of Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood.
Designed for gathering
Channeling Italian dining culture and the urban energy of European cafés, Bar di Bello is conceived as an open dining hall anchored by a striking red travertine bar. A central walnut banquette bisects the room, subtly defining the floor plan without compromising flow and fluidity throughout the space, which is unified by custom tables and seating.
Service pathways are integrated into the layout, with a kitchen pass positioned beside the bar to ensure uninterrupted circulation.
Casual comfort at Bar di Bello
The design centers around warmth and casual comfort, with nods to Art Deco elements and a Milanese sensibility. Its palette comprises deep walnut tones and custom millwork that mingle with stainless steel and aluminum accents that sharpen the profile.
Overhead, a bespoke grid ceiling features circular cutouts with inset fixtures, casting a softened glow that permeates the space. This diffused illumination is layered with pendants and table lamps that adorn the bar.
The furnishings throughout draw from the lineage of Italian modernists—from Afra & Tobia Scarpa sconces to Vico Magistretti chairs and stone mosaic flooring—to infuse the interiors with a touch of history.
Plus, landscape architect and designer Sarita Jaccard, in collaboration with 22RE, is envisioning Bar di Bello’s outdoor space, which slated to debut this summer.
