The New York Botanical Garden has announced the opening of Hudson Garden Grill, a new property restaurant by STARR Restaurants open to both visitors and the general public.
“We are so excited to bring this new dining option to the New York Botanical Garden, our local community, and to New York,” says Gregory Long, president and CEO of the Botanical Garden. “We feel that good food is a key component of an ideal visit to the Garden, and we look forward to the wonderfully rich food experience that Hudson Garden Grill will offer to the Garden’s audience, which continues to grow and become more diverse.”
Situated within the Garden’s approximately 40-acre Ross Conifer Arboretum, the 200-seat Hudson Garden Grill serves as the first full-service, sit-down restaurant ever for the Garden and features locally sourced ingredients and New American cuisine by executive chef Julian Alonzo.
Locust Valley, New York-based Bentel & Bentel Architects designed and constructed the outdoor patio and interiors, which feature a main dining room doubling as a private event space. A long walnut bar stands prominently amongst blackened steel and oxidized copper accents, while walls are clad in whitewashed, rough-sawn red oak panels made from reclaimed materials from the Garden. Low banquette seating, also featuring walnut tabletops, is flanked by large-scale Larry Lederman photographs of the grounds.
